We encourage anybody who wants to camp here all weekend, Friday thru Sunday (or even Monday, if you have Columbus Day off work!). It would give us peace of mind to know people aren’t drinking and driving AND we could spend more time with all of you! We will have an outdoor shower and port-a-potties set up, and an area for cooking meals. We have more than enough space to spread out, so if you have kids that might need to go to bed early we can surely find a quiet spot to pitch your tent. Our address is 2261 Thomas Jefferson Road, Forest VA 24551.
Make your reservations as soon as you can! October is a VERY busy month for weddings in Lynchburg and many hotels are already completely booked. Here are a few places where we have blocked off rooms, so reserve ASAP to ensure you get one!
Closest and Most Affordable: Timberlake Motel is offering a discount rate for our group at $69.30 plus tax (just ask about Arden and Michael’s Wedding). It is a simple set-up, but when we looked at it the rooms were very clean and well taken care of and the management has been wonderful to talk to! They also have good reviews. They are exactly 4 miles away. We will have a shuttle running to and from the Timberlake Motel, so you don’t have to worry about driving! Please book by September 4. www.timberlakemotel.net 19980 Lynchburg Hwy, Lynchburg, VA 24502 (434) 525-2160
Upscale BnB: Acorn Hill Lodge and Spa is the “Best Bed and Breakfast in Lynchburg” that I have heard really good things about. They are a little bit farther (7.5 miles or 17 minutes). They are supposed to have great food and spacious rooms (and a spa!). Their policy is that we can only reserve 3 rooms (under Arden Jones), but they should have more available. http://www.acornhilllodge.net 2134 Old Forest Rd, Lynchburg, VA 24501 (434) 528-0983
Scenic, easy access to hiking: If you are coming for the whole weekend and would like to do some hiking and/or visits to local orchards we highly recommend the Peaks of Otter Lodge. It is located on the Blue Ridge Parkway right next to Sharp Top and Flat Top (the Peaks of Otter), about 35 minutes away. Rooms are a little pricey ($179-$189), but the setting is incredible AND they are earth friendly– we compost their food waste for them! We have blocked 10 rooms under Arden Jones, book by early September. peaksofotter.com 85554 Blue Ridge Parkway, Bedford · (540) 586-1081
Craddock Terry Hotel is the old shoe factory that is now a really nice hotel with an excellent restaurant. It’s in a good location near the Blackwater Bike Trail, the Lynchburg Community Market, Hot Yoga, and several good restaurants and bars (El Jefe, Kegney Bros. Irish Pub, Dish, White Hart café are our favorites). It is 12 miles from us (21 minutes). We were unable to book rooms because they are hosting another wedding that weekend, but if you call at the last minute they might have something open up. www.craddockterryhotel.com 1312 Commerce St, Lynchburg, VA 24504 · (434) 455-1500
Carriage House Inn is a lovely historic home in downtown Lynchburg (a bit further). http://www.thecarriagehouseinnbandb.com/ 404 Cabell Street Lynchburg, VA 24504. Phone: 434-846-1388. E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
The Residence Bed & Breakfast is also near downtown, close to Randolph College. http://www.theresidencebb.com/ 2460 Rivermont Ave. Lynchburg, VA 24503 Ph: 434-386-7726
There are many other B&Bs in Bedford County and Bedford Town, which is about the same distance as Lynchburg. Alternatively, go to airbnb.com if you are interested in staying in someone’s personal home (for a good rate, usually). There are several people in Forest who have homes posted on Air Bnb.
